In this 2 part workshop, the child will learn to mosaic with natural materials, guided by their guardian and Heidi to create their own mosaic to take home. The children can choose one board from precut ply shapes (hearts, whale tails, circles) that have been sealed and painted, as well as have access to a wide range of Heidi’s materials. Finished pieces will also have a wire hanging system fixed.
On Day 1 Heidi will talk through the process and basics of her mosaic style before guiding the group through pattern design. Freestyle design is also encouraged and Heidi often helps guide the freestyle minded towards a cohesive outcome. Patterns are then glued to ply and left to set overnight.
Day 2 consists of grouting and cleaning the fixed pattern which is where adult assistance is wholly required (especially under 10s). Heidi also then adds the hanging system for finishing.
This workshop is advised for ages 7-12 and supervised. Minimum group size is 5 children. Older children may want to join an adults class but would also benefit from this course. Parental guidance not required for 13+.
