Heidi Chesterman, a self-taught mixed media artist based in Hawkes Bay, began honing her craft in 2013 after being captivated by surf art during a graduate visa exchange in Hawaii. However, her connection to the ocean's allure traces back to childhood, where she would collect shells, stones, and sticks from the beach for her mother. Now, a grown woman, she channels that innate passion into creating heartfelt treasures, reflecting her deep bond with the sea.
Rooted in her love for surfing, Heidi's art draws inspiration from the ocean. Utilising natural materials like paua, various shells, river stones, greenstone, and glass, she has perfected her technique, bringing the beauty of New Zealand to life in her creations.
Heidi's beach mosaics grace locations across New Zealand and have found homes in Australia, America, and Belgium. Each piece is a unique masterpiece, crafted with care to be cherished for generations to come.
